As our nation’s birthday looms present, we all await anxiously for fireworks, BBQs, family gatherings and a day off from work. All good, but truly should only serve as reminders and celebrations of the greatest nation on Earth; The “Beacon,” as it’s been referred to, and refuge for those legitimately oppressed and seeking freedom.

But in opposition of these lofty ideals is the currently growing, woesome cry of a destructive demon. An ideology that would ruin this country like it’s ruined many others. A concept so foreign to this country’s founding that the modern citizenry in many can’t even explain it – IF they’ve even heard of it. It’s been the downfall of many lands, the most recent being the undermentioned, wishfully forgotten, country of Venezuela.

The name of this cancer?  SOCIALISM.

The operative word, as they say… SOCIAL. And defined as: “A political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.”

There are many forms of a Socialist economic system, that can be divided into non-market and market forms and other variants. But it’s the control of the economy, businesses, property etc for the “collective good” of the community.

We’ll keep it simple here with some links, but it stands in comprehensive contrast to the founding fathers’ idea of freedom, capitalism and God-given rights. Socialism has its origins in the 1789 French Revolution and the changes which it wrought, although it has precedents in earlier movements and ideas. The Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in 1848, was just before the Revolutions of 1848 swept Europe. In the last third of the 19th century, social democratic parties arose in Europe, drawing mainly from Marxism. (There’s that “social” again)

But face it, the facts and history of socialism is lost on today’s illiterate multitudes. They don’t have either the time, inclination or intellect to investigate and appreciate the veracity of history. They willingly listen and follow the lemming’s list of talking points issued by the proletariat leadership which is NOT in the best interest of the country or ultimately the masses themselves.

A few minutes spent thumbing through the millennials’ influential bibles of FaceBook or Google, would yield many multitudinous mounds of truths related to their pet social cries. The prime precedent of baronial breakdown is Venezuela, whose government has largely stopped reporting economic data. The Central Bank of Venezuela has not independently released inflation figures in at least a year.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has passed blame for the implosive failed economy onto others, including opposition activists and, if you can believe this, officials in Washington. At a campaign rally in May, he blamed hyperinflation on “criminal mafias.” All elements of a country’s economy and social structure to be overwatched and controlled by the government.

Venezuelan socialism is the embodiment of self-deprecation of extreme socialist ideas, the type of Marxism that, when applied for the first time in Russia just 100 years ago, called itself communism. France, on the other hand, like most Europeans, has shown they no longer have faith in the other variant of socialism, the “moderate” form that in many countries has been called Social Democracy or Democratic Socialism.

Both ideologies coincide on a fundamental point: their rejection of capitalism and the free market economy that give everyone the right to produce and consume according to their needs.

Some have taken notice and heeded the warning. Colombia Report’s headline: “Iconic Medellin slum votes Duque to avoid ‘another Venezuela.'” Ivan Duque, the 41-year-old, has been called the new conservative, pro-businesses leader by the Walk Street Journal. Time will tell the outcome of success…or failure. It’s a matter of judgement, reality and trust.

And the problem of socialism/communism/fascism is the trust and believability of those in charge for the “common good.” The most recent example of misplaced trust is the election of a self-acclaimed “socialist from the hood” who proclaims and promised “equality” and “fairness.” In truth, this disciple of disdain for America,  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  Ocasio-Cortez was endorsed by progressive and civil rights organizations such as MoveOn, Justice Democrats, Brand New Congress, Black Lives Matter, and Democracy for America, She claims to be a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and has been endorsed by various politically progressive organizations. These are dangerous waters in the political swamp as our populous even considers people with ties to “progressive“, “socialist” and “community organizing” groups.”  (We all remember how well that turned out for America after 2008.)

Ocasio-Cortez has touted her own hard-luck biography as a key selling point in her insurgent campaign while subduing the fact she grew up mostly in wealthy Westchester County. But facts are lost on the blind who seek only social results without benefit of reality.

Her ill-conceived ideas of abolishing one of our most important law enforcement efforts, the “all inclusive” open arms ideas for immigration, and other socialist concepts would eventually destroy this country, leaving a few wealthy in charge while the poor and middle class wither and slither away to some shanty towns of Appalachia, foraging for food and reviving the talents of hunting and fishing to eat and survive.

For millennials who seek a panacea for their own lack of accomplishment – known as capitalism…. take a plane trip south and see if that’s really how you wish to live your destitute lives. Socialism is NOT the nirvana you seek. There’s no paradise, no refuge in the control of others.
