Occasionally something or someone bursts onto the scene with such impact and fervor that it overwhelms the senses of some intelligent – and not so intelligent – inhabitants of the current sphere of influence.

Such was the unexpected and surprising appearance of one Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a former not-so-long ago bartender and social activist from the Bernie campaign.  On June 26, 2018, Ocasio-Cortez garnered 15,897 votes to Joe Crowley’s 11,761, defeating the 10-term incumbent by almost 15 percentage points.

A surprising loss sending Crowley home weeping in disbelief. However, considering there are over 300,000 registered voters, 4.4% of the populous isn’t a huge bragging point for Cortez.

And one should consider that in a district where Hispanics outnumber whites over 2.5 times, a young socialist leaning girl with a “everything for free” message coulddraw more attention than a older white guy even though he outspent her 19 times.

After her primary win, she laid out her philosophy as:

“I knew that if we were going to win, the way that progressives win on an unapologetic message is by expanding the electorate. That’s the only way that we can win strategically. It’s not by rushing to the center. It’s not by trying to win spending all of our energy winning over those who have other opinions. It’s by expanding the electorate, speaking to those that feel disenchanted, dejected, cynical about our politics, and letting them know that we’re fighting for them.”

This very statement makes the point of the socialism she stands for. First it’s important to note that word “progressives.” A term which accurately portrays the slide from Democratic through Socialististic to Communistic.

And her point being to pull together those who “feel” disenchanted, dejected, cynical, or in other words, possibly lazy, uneducated, non-participatory agitators who have ideas they deserve more and aren’t getting their fair share so…. glom onto the money train and full steam ahead – let’s all get ours.

The one problem with liberals in appealing to the masses of the illinformed, uneducated or apathetic “lackadaisicals” of society, is that you can say about anything to get their support and they’ll all nod in monochromatic agreement and go along with the plan. But, step out into the light of reality and put forth your invective diatribe of deceitful ideas, and your own level of intellectual incompetence is on full display.

The premise of Socialism has been tried and tweaked, retried and massaged through the anals of history the world over. One could contrive it started in Acts 4:32 which describes an early Christian socialist community that shared a common purse:

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had”

But early times lent themselves to a different mindset as life was simplistic, not profit driven and societies were not overrun with shopping malls and 401K plans revealing the need for a more capitalistic way of living, spending, investing and running businesses.

In Britain, Thomas Paine put forth a detailed plan to tax property owners to pay for the needs of the poor in Agrarian Justice in 1797, while Charles Hall wrote The Effects of Civilization on the People in European States in 1805, denouncing capitalism’s effects on the poor of his time. The English word “socialist” in its modern sense dates from at least 1822.

But, Socialism made its move from the late 1700s in the French revolution, through Russia, with changes by Marx and Engels, then through Europe, and ultimately finding its way to China, Viet Nam, the middle east, then west to Cuba and the shinning example of economic failure, Venezuela.

I mention this short historical account because its failures and faltering attempts are lost on those who would rule over a successful capitalistic society. The strong Iron Lady of Britain said is succinctly and concisely:

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
― Margaret Thatcher

Under Democratic planning and their Socialistic agendas – replace “eventually” with “quickly.”

But liberals (progressives, socialists, et al) give no thought to the future. They just count the voters standing in lines to attend their speeches, and plan their deception to gain and promote their own populist message and position.

Ocasio-Cortez is the face of the party, she is the star du jour. She must have the answers as she’s got an economics degree from Boston University, but, in reality and speaking in economical/financial terms…. “Workshops and seminars are basically financial speed dating for clueless people.” And she is as clueless as any casually dressed single attendee at table 5.

She’s already promoting and supporting Medicare for all,  a whopping $32 trillion over 10 years and other Socialistic projects bring the total to $42.5 trillion. The 30-year projected tab for these programs (Medicare for all, free public college, and a jobs guarantee) is even more staggering: new proposals costing $218 trillion.

When asked on the Daily Show about funding her desires, she responded with ideas for taxing the rich and cutting defense spending that would raise revenue by about $300-400 billion a year; a pittance.

We’re at a national debt of $21 trillion now and that’s NOT including our “unfunded liabilities”; those debt obligations for which there is no current asset backing them, and that figure? Currently over $210 trillion.

To answer the dinaro deficit, Brian Riedl of the Manhattan Institute has calculated that the US would have to seize all corporate and personal profits above $90,000 a year, add an 87% VAT, or a number of equally horrible ideas. And the truth is… that wouldn’t even cover it. Keep in mind – Total wealth of the entire country reached a record high of $88.1 trillion in the first quarter of 2016. So, where is the money coming from? It just isn’t.

And Ocasio-Cortez is not only clueless but realistically mentally unstable and lacking in reason on so many fronts. As I’ve written before, she has stated that “Capitalism has not always existed in the world and will not always exist in the world.” Actually, capitalism has pretty much always existed. When Jesus chased the money changers from the temple, they weren’t there giving money away. People have been trading since there was something to trade. “The market economy, contrary to what you might have heard, has existed since the caves,” writes Deirdre McCloskey in “Bourgeois Dignity.”

Ocasio-Cortez summarizes lowering unemployment numbers by saying …“Well, unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs.” No. That would make sense if the unemployment rate were calculated by asking businesses whether their jobs were filled. But instead BLS uses the household survey, which asks people whether they have a job. The answer is “yes” whether you work one job or ten.

The Ocasio-Cortez Fizzle

And the “fizzle?” Self-proclaimed “Democratic-Socialist” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a truly unmotivating and miserable Tuesday night election experience. The socialist, who pulled off her amazing upset last month in New York, tried to use her media attention to help other far-left Democrats win their primaries this week. The results of her endorsements rival the 1,000,000% inflation rate of Venezuela. They were inflated but not successfully flat.

Ocasio-Cortez expounded the virtues of Fayouz Saad in Michigan’s 11th District, Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st District, Abdul El-Sayed for Michigan Governor, and supported Congressional Candidate Kaniela Ing in Hawaii.

For those keeping track from their parents’ basements,  Saad is currently in fourth place out of five candidates for Michigan’s 11th district, with 86 percent of precincts reported. Abdul El Sayed lost his campaign in the Michigan gubernatorial primary, 51.8 percent to 30.5% percent.

Bush lost to William Lacy Clay, 57 percent to 37 percent, and We’ll have to see what happens in Hawaii’s primary elections, which take place on August 11. Considering the track record of Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsed candidates, the odds in the Aloha State don’t look maikaʻi loa.

The obvious observation and warning in all this is BEWARE OF SOCIALISTS BEARING GIFTS. They’re probably bought on someone else’s credit and will be repossessed. Her own campaign endorsements sound the warning alarm of socialism and progressivism. Ocasio-Cortez was endorsed by progressive, violent, left leaning and civil rights organizations such as MoveOn, Justice Democrats, Brand New Congress, Black Lives Matter, and Democracy for America.

The ultimate “fizzle” could very well be the United States. We came closer than ever to our domestic decline under B. Hussein. With the growth of the Bernie Sanderses, Ocasio-Cortezes and more Socialists, as well as more Muslim candidates who do not have our best interest in mind, our 242 year success story will lay as flat as last month’s soda in an Arizona desert.

I don’t like being accused of anti this or that especially when it comes to religious or racial groups but… we have to observe the news, what’s happening and then associate the facts with reality and prepare for the future.  As example, this week’s revelation of horrific crimes in NM glue themselves to previous events and people and bear observation, investigation and consideration. We must be prepared with facts and eyes wide open to survive and grow as people and as a country. With people like Sanders and Cortez and others, if you’re not part of the real solution, then you’re definitely part of the problem.

For the darling of the democratic party I would offer this reflection for your consideration:

Imagine how asleep or utterly unperceptive and clueless you would have to be not to see yourself as absurd for the most part.
– John Malkovich
